Question 4- Digital Etiquette

Digital etiquette is a simple set of guidelines that will enable you to use online internet communication in a manner that builds a profile about you and makes it easier to be part of the digital world without disregarding or evoking issues. In this recent era of digitalized communication has increased the number of people that are always online internet surfing which means that it is quite easier for an offensive comment to reach billions in just a few hours. While the world is moving in a more advanced technological direction some people have not realized that the internet is a vast digital web that has an extensive power to re-define the way people see you and influence your personality through comments, captured videos,  articles, images as well as any other media. However, some people have not realized that any form of content remains online for many years. As a result of this ignorance many people are harmed and their reputations are tarnished

These are the examples of bad digital etiquette                                                               1. Using offensive and sensitive language -This sort of language is commonly used by cyber bullies and people who use social media to diminish the image of someone else. Cyberbullying has become the most preferable bullying which perpetrators use to target victims. Cyberbullies use anonymous social media accounts and emails as well as contact numbers to torment their lives. The viral spread of videos and images purposefully shared on social media and the endless contacting have a massive impact on the victims especially psychologically. Therefore,it is important for people to keep track of all that they share and be informed about seeking help from this bullying.                                                                                                                                                                                  2. Inconsiderate/Indifferent of people's opinion - It is common for people to disagree on the same topics and issues. However, some individuals have a way of expressing their opinions in a rather disrespectful manner instead of a polite response, which is likely to offend more people. Since online communication is mainly made up of networking it's important for people to respect each other views to avoid unnecessary online drama. (Cybersmile) This form of disrespect can also lead to being banned on social media.                                                   3. Stealing other people's identity and posting images - In every country there are laws that regulate the use of posting, publishing images online without the individual's permission.
4. Lack of proper grammar and spelling - Language is a key tool for conversing and maintaining conversations. Brown(2018) suggests inappropriate sentence structure can change the context meaning and result in leaving an undesired impression to your audience.                                                                                                                                                                                      5.Posting/publishing unverified information -The internet has no restriction on what information should be published and posted online.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Reference list                                                                                                                                      Brown, R.A. 2018,19 Tips to improve online Etiquette, Elegant Market place,14 August 2018.[Blog].
